Privacy policy

CareDirectory is operated by Basalta, an Ontario business ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through gethomecaredirectory.com and the CareDirectory app, why we collect it, who sees it and what choices you have. Questions: hello@gethomecaredirectory.ca.

What we collect

Families: the email address you sign in with; your name and, if you choose to give one, your phone number; the details of each request you post (city, types of care, shifts, language preferences, hours of care, when you want to start, and budget range); and any rating or comment you write in a review.
Agencies: the email address you sign in with; the business details you enter in your listing (name, address, phone, contact email, types of care, languages, price range, and self-reported license, insurance, background check and training information); and the messages you send to families.
Payments: agencies pay through Stripe. We receive a payment confirmation and Stripe reference numbers (such as a checkout or subscription number) and the amount. We do not receive or store card numbers. We also keep each agency's response credit balance and a record of credits bought and used.
Technical data: the information needed to keep you signed in, such as cookies or similar storage set by the platforms we use. This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our website host may keep standard server logs.

Our request form asks about types of care, not medical conditions. Please do not put medical or other sensitive details in a review comment or a message.

How we use it

To share your request with agencies that provide all of the care you listed, so that up to three of them can send you an offer.
To share your contact details with the one agency you choose, so it can reach you.
To run agency listings, free trials, subscriptions and response credits.
To publish reviews from families who chose an agency.
To send service emails: a new offer on your request, that a family chose your agency, and that a free trial is ending. We do not send marketing emails.
To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We use your information only for these purposes. We do not sell personal information.

Who sees it

Before you choose an agency: agencies that provide all of the care you listed can see the details of your request (city, types of care, shifts, language preferences, hours, start timing and budget range). They cannot see your name, email address or phone number.
After you choose an agency: that agency sees your name, your email address and your phone number if you gave one. Other agencies do not.
Reviews are public, but they do not show your name or email address.
Agency listings are visible to anyone signed in to the directory. Basic listings show a limited profile; Featured listings show the full profile.

Service providers and where information is stored

We rely on service providers to operate CareDirectory. They handle information only to provide their service to us.

Provider	What it does for us
Glide	Hosts the app, its database and sign-in. Our database is hosted in the United States (AWS US East, Ohio).
Stripe	Takes payments from agencies.
Resend	Delivers our service emails. Resend stores its account data, including email logs, in the United States.
Composio	Glide's integration provider, through which our app connects to the email service.
GoDaddy	Our domain name and business email.
Netlify	Hosts this website.

Because of these providers, your information may be processed and stored outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

Agency information is self-reported

Agency details, including license, insurance, background check and training information, are entered by the agencies. CareDirectory does not independently verify them. Please ask any agency for proof before choosing care.

How long we keep it

We keep requests, offers, reviews and listings for as long as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymize them. We keep requests for 24 months after they are closed.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@gethomecaredirectory.ca. We will respond within 30 days. You can close your own requests in the app. Agencies can edit their own listing in the app.

Security

We use reputable platforms and access controls so that agencies see only the requests that match their listing, and see a family's contact details only after the family chooses them. No online service is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Who this is for

CareDirectory is for adults. It is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
